This summer, we had the pleasure of attending the Southwark Care Leavers Apprenticeship Fair. It was a fantastic day filled with one-on-one conversations with inspiring young people eager to explore their career options. We were excited to share insights about the diverse career paths Berkeley Homes offers and to hear about each young person’s unique aspirations.
Events like this give us the chance to dispel a few common myths about careers in the built environment sector. For many, construction brings to mind hard hats and hi-vis jackets, but as Southwark Employment and Careers Advisor Matthew Izekor put it, “What these conversations do is challenge the way people perceive construction”
The construction industry offers a wide range of roles, from land management and sales to quantity surveying and sustainability, opening up a world of opportunities for people to consider as they plan their careers.
Connecting with Southwark’s Care Leavers has been truly rewarding, and we look forward to welcoming more bright talent into the dynamic world of the built environment.
