Galleria on the Rye – Celebrating Peckham’s Creativity!

Peckham is an area alive with creativity and colour! It’s an area where art isn’t just something on a wall, it’s part of the fabric of the community.

As part of our ongoing commitment to working with the community, we were thrilled to launch The Galleria on the Rye, a free exhibition space dedicated to giving local artists a platform to share their work. Our goal is to make it possible for emerging and up-and-coming artists to have a space to exhibit their art in a central location at the heart of Peckham.

Since its launch, The Galleria on the Rye has already showcased the talents of twelve incredible artists from a wide range of backgrounds, each presenting their personal journey and creative vision. From the stunning ceramics of Ewelina Trejta to the bold, evocative paintings of Claudio Spaziani, and the dynamic photography of artists like Kadi.

Our dedication to local artists goes beyond The Galleria on the Rye space. Artist Jason Jackson’s painting features in the CGIs of the Aylesham Centre proposals and photographer Chris Brown was hired to document our “What’s Your Story” event in the summer.

This October, to celebrate Black History Month, we were honoured to host Monica Alder, a talented cross-stitch artist who created a collection of twelve intricate pieces featuring significant Black historical figures. During her exhibit, Miss Alder could be found cross-stitching in the atrium of the Aylesham Centre, where visitors would stop to watch her at work and learn about the inspiration behind each piece.

We are proud to support local talent and create a place where creativity can flourish and inspire. We invite all interested artists to contact us to find out more about exhibiting with us!
