Local community groups and Council-sponsored organisations came together to celebrate the role of older people in shaping the community. The event combined fun activities – including dance classes with live music – and information stalls to find out more about services across Southwark.
At the event, we displayed and discussed historic photos of the former Jones and Higgins Department store, which previously occupied part of what is now the Aylesham site.
Local residents shared their memories of the store and life in Peckham going back decades, as well as sharing their thoughts on the area today and what makes it unique.
The team really enjoyed the experience and look forward to continuing conversations with local people as the design and consultation move forward.

We will be holding a walk and talk session with members of the design team on Monday 16th October, starting at 6pm at the Consultation Hub (Unit 15A of the Aylesham Centre). You are warmly invited to join us for this.
