The Berkeley team is delighted to have supported some fantastic local events and organisations throughout December – and we look forward to continuing this in 2024.
Our festive activities so far.
On 1st December, we had the pleasure of sponsoring and attending the annual Peckham Christmas tree lights switch-on by the Mayor of Southwark, Cllr Michael Situ, organised as usual by local resident Maureen Baker. The festive fare offered many mince pies, a retro photo booth, songs from Mountview students and even a visit from Santa!
We were also proud to support the Peckham Hope Hack event on 10th December, organised by the Damilola Taylor Trust, the Rio Ferdinand Foundation, and the Violence Reduction Unit. The event gave 100 young people aged 15-25 the opportunity to voice their solutions for what they think a fairer society looks like, and how it might be achieved.
The event included a Q&A with author of ‘That Peckham Boy’ Peckham Local, Kenny Imafidon, and workshops facilitated by some of London’s best youth practitioners. The young people at the event were able to share their thoughts and organised presentations on their ideas. We were thrilled to be able to work alongside the young people and community representatives who are a real driving force for change in the local area.
Peckham Soup Kitchen Christmas dinner at Mercato Metropolitano.
The Berkeley team are delighted to have supported Peckham Soup Kitchen in the past year. In August, we helped provide children in Peckham with school uniforms and stationery before the start of the new school year and in October we supported Peckham Soup Kitchen’s ‘takeover’ event at the Aylesham Centre.
Continuing this relationship, we are excited to announce that we will be supporting Peckham Soup Kitchens’s Christmas Day event at Mercato Metropolitano, which will include free Christmas dinners, activities and food parcel giveaways.
If you are interested in attending, you can sign up using the details or QR code in the poster below. Should you need transport to the venue, please contact Peckham Soup Kitchen at peckhamsoupkitchen@gmail.com and they would be happy to assist.
