Winter Consultation Summary blog, January 2024
Since last summer, we have held a series of events where members of the public have met with the team and shared their views on our work so far. These have included walk and talk sessions with local people; workshops with youth and community groups; pop-up sessions at the Aylesham Centre; tea and cakes with older residents; regular openings of the Consultation Hub; and two drop-in events at Rye Lane Baptist Chapel.
We welcomed 143 of you to our November 2023 events and received 22 responses to our feedback survey, which sought feedback on our analysis work and local priorities.
Key points raised by people during the consultation included:
- The benefit of work experience and apprenticeships for local people.
- Anti-social behaviour and the need for safer streets and spaces in the town centre.
- The challenges of managing cars, cyclists, buses and pedestrians on Rye Lane and Peckham High Street.
- An aspiration for a wider retail offer that includes more recognisable and affordable chain stores, cafes, and restaurants.
- More green space and seating.
For more information on our activities and feedback received, please see our feedback summary document here.
We are grateful for all of your contributions, which have helped to shape our emerging proposals for the site.
